This is the opening track of The Lioness and the original is quite extraordinary. I play slide guitar on our version, plugged into an HH amp, which is the first guitar amp I ever owned, and which has a fantastic old-fashioned tremelo effect and two imputs. When The Wave Pictures started, Franic used to plug his bass into it too. It still has a picture of Rory Gallagher on it that I cut out of a magazine and stuck to the side when I was 13. It takes forever to warm up, it crackles and pops, and it picks up local radio broadcasts too. It was fun to use it again for the first time in years.

This is one of the strongest albums by Stanley Brinks and this alone speaks volumes about its quality and merits, since Mr. Brinks's material is always great. The Wave Pictures are doing a terrific job as his backing band and the results are simply breathtaking. This has so many merits that a simple review can not cover. His voice sax and guitar sound is distinctive, yet I find that fans of Hefner, Jonathan Richman, Velvet Underground, Violent Femmes will certainly enjoy this immensely. Vassilis Gonis
