I love the way the original swings along and moves, I love the sentiment, I love the sound, I love the drumbeat, I love that woman's backing vocal. This track comes from Axxess and Ace. The best Songs Ohia album? Quite possibly. It's a sexy song when Molina does it. Sexy and serious. The Wave Pictures version doesn't really do it justice, but it's danceable enough, and I was pleased with my poky, twangy, guitar solo. Listening back to this album, it also strikes me as a necessary change of pace. This is probably the most faithful cover version we did in some ways. Jonny and Franic really nailed the parts from the original record. On the others we played the songs however we wanted to. I think that the strength of the band's performance on the original version of Captain Badass probably accounts for this. Secretly, I hope that someday we get to record in the studio in Chicago where Axxess and Ace was made. It's such a good sound. Warm and crystal clear at the same time. One time on tour, Jonny was driving and Franic was dozing in the back of the van. We put on Axxess and Ace at the start of the journey, and we never took it off the stereo. It must have gone round about 9 times. It's quite a wonderful album.

This is one of the strongest albums by Stanley Brinks and this alone speaks volumes about its quality and merits, since Mr. Brinks's material is always great. The Wave Pictures are doing a terrific job as his backing band and the results are simply breathtaking. This has so many merits that a simple review can not cover. His voice sax and guitar sound is distinctive, yet I find that fans of Hefner, Jonathan Richman, Velvet Underground, Violent Femmes will certainly enjoy this immensely. Vassilis Gonis
